Abstract

Nelumbo nucifera has been used in many health supplement formulas, especially those used for the management of diabetes and other metabolic health conditions. The extract of N. nucifera has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It also help to maintain cholesterol levels, promote liver health, and provide relief from joint pain. N. nucifera leaf extract can also be used to manage metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions including high blood sugar, excess abdominal fat, high blood pressure, and abnormal cholesterol levels. The extract can help to improve glucose levels, reduce blood pressure, and promote weight loss. N. nucifera extract has also been shown to increase insulin sensitivity and reduce glucose production in the liver. In addition, N. nucifera extract has been used in the treatment of various skin conditions including eczema and acne. Studies have shown that N. nucifera extract can help to reduce inflammation and itching associated with these skin conditions. This study characterized N. nucifera through FT-IR and GC–MS. In present study, α-glucosidase, α-amylase and α-aldolase activity of N. nucifera was analysed and reported with IC50 values at 55.5 (µg/ml). Overall, N. nucifera has potential to be used as a supplement for those looking to improve their metabolic health and manage various skin conditions.
