Ability of fertility restoration of the restorer was controlled by a single dominant gene. Traditionally, fertility restorer genes screening is a tedious process due to generating and evaluating larger number of testcross progeny. A total of two or three bacterial blight resistances genes introgressed 52 F2 individuals of CB 174 R × IRBB 60 screened using microsatellite marker RM6100. Forty F2 individuals found that Rf4 gene carries and thus restorer gene governed homozygous dominant individuals can be utilized in hybrid rice breeding as restorers in near future in India. And also, this would help to transfer the fertility restorer gene into non-restorer inbreds through backcross breeding program.
