Prof. Ved Pal Singh


Prof Ved Pal Singh did his graduation from A M U Aligarh in the year 1972 and moved to G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar for obtaining his M. Sc. degree in the year 1975. Prof Singh obtained Ph. D. in Botany from University of Delhi in 1981 and became lecturer in the same university in the year 1986. Prof Singh was promoted to the post of Professor in 2007 and was awarded Fellow of Linnean Society of London and remained Foundation Follow, International Society of Plant Morphologists; Fellow, International Society for Conservation of Natural Resources; Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellow at University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (U K); National Youth Development Awardee; INSA and UNESCO/ROSTSCA Young Scientist Awardee in the field of Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology and the British Council Visitor to U K and Germany. He represented India in the ISBA held at Mexico (1982), Hungary (1985) and Japan (1988). He serves as President, International Society of Plant Morphologists (2010-2014) and Society for the Promotion of Plant Science Research (2013-2014) and as Chairman, Governing Body, Rajdhani College, University of Delhi during 2017. Recently he got superannuation from the post of Professor & Head, Department of Botany, University of Delhi, Delhi; and now serving as Honorary Professor of Biochemistry, Innovative College of Pharmacy, Greater Noida; Chairman, Governing Body, Innovative Institute of Law, Greater Noida (U P) and as Member, Academic Council, Ch. Ranbir Singh University, Jind (Haryana)

Prof Singh has published large number of papers in international and national journals besides many book chapters. He has edited several books and volumes, including Elsevier’s International Review Series – Progress in Industrial Microbiology. He served the SOCIETY FOR PLANT RESEARCH as Vice President from 2018-2020.
