Prof Gajendra Pal Singh was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India on 28 May 1967 and earned his PhD degree in 1992 with a major research interest in Phycology from the Department of Botany, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Prof G P Singh is a Professor at the Department of Botany, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur since 2012. Before that he served as Associate Professor (2009-2012) and Assistant Professor (1996-2009) at the same university. Dr Singh has over 30 years’ experience in Algal Biotechnology, and has done commendable work on algal species like Dunaliella, Spirulina, and Chlorella. Several studies under his supervision have been done on algal diversity of water bodies in Rajasthan.
Prof. Singh handled several administrative posts like Director, Academic, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (2023-till date); Nodal Officer-NEP-2020, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (2023-till date); Convener, Coding Committee of University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (2023-till date); Dean, Student Welfare, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (2018-2020); Convener, Revaluation committee of University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (2018-19); Convener, Flying Squad Committee, University of Rajasthan (2020-21 and 2021-2022); Former Vice-Principal University Maharaja College, Jaipur (2013-2018); Additional Coordinator UCCS & IT, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (2023-till date).
Prof. Singh is the member of several universities’ selection committees and board of studies. For dissemination of scientific outputs and exchange of knowledge Prof. Singh has organized several international and national conference in the last decade. And also active fellow of the International forum of botanists, International society for life sciences, Indian Botanical Society, Society for Plant Research (SPR) and Indian Science Congress Association.
