Abstract

River Subernrekha is a hilly river of Jharkhand flowing through Ranchi district. It receives many drainage system of towns like Harmoo, Hinoo, Chutia etc. The water of Subernrekha gets polluted and is recovered easily due to hilly flow of river and climate of Jharkhand such as light and temperature, sedimentation of pollutants in water and oxidation of pollutants. Certain Rheoplanktons get affected and certain planktons are tolerant. In this study tolerant species are identified such as Botryococcus, Hydrodictyon, Oedogonium, Protococcus and Ulothrix. Among blue green algae Nostoc and Oscillatoria and among Protozoans only Spirostomum are tolerant species which could exist in the Site I upstream freshwater zone and Site III recovery zone of mixed water zone after 100 meter away from the polluted water zone of Site II.
