Thirty genotypes of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) procured from different Indian Council of Agricultural Research institutes and experiment was conducted at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Regional Research Station, Karnal, during the Autumn Winter season of 2021-22 to assess the nature of association among traits through correlation and path analysis for sixteen parameters. The character association analysis indicated that fruit yield per plant was significantly and positively correlated with average fruit weight (0.659), number of branches per plant (0.439), number of fruits per plant (0.323), equatorial diameter (0.317), polar diameter 0.303), number of locules (0.284) and plant height at final harvest (0.274). Number of fruits per plant had a significantly negative correlation with average fruit weight (-0.471). Average fruit weight was observed significant positively correlated with number of branches per plant (0.355), equatorial diameter (0.356) and polar diameter (0.214). Path coefficient analysis results indicated that highest positive direct effect towards fruit yield per plant was contributed by average fruit weight (1.0135) followed by number of fruits per plant (0.8827), equatorial diameter (0.0828), plant height at final harvest (0.0753), pericarp thickness (0.0688), polar diameter (0.0679). Average fruit weight showed a positive indirect effect on fruit yield per plant via equatorial diameter (0.0249), pericarp thickness (0.0309) and titrable acidity (0.0186) and negative indirect effects through number of fruits per plant (-0.4130). Number of branches per plant showed a positive high indirect effect on fruit yield per plant via average fruit weight (0.4484) followed by pericarp thickness (0.0188) and plant height at final harvest (0.0220).
