Abstract

During the floristic survey of Bandipur Tiger Reserve, Karnataka the authors collected an interesting species of the genus Hydrocotyle. A critical analysis of the literature reveals that it is a Central American species named H. bowlesioides. This species was found to be allied to the recently described H. kollimalayensis but differentiated by the pubescent peduncle, reniform hispid fruits, prominent dorsal ridges, and more number of flowers. A detailed description, photograph and illustration are provided to distinguish it from other species of Hydrocotyle in India.
