Abstract

Nanotechnology is gaining tremendous impetus in the present century due to its capability of modulating metals into their nano size. Research in nanotechnology highlights the possibility of green chemistry pathways to produce technologically important nanomaterials. Present study focuses on the biological synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Trichophyton mentagrophytes and its antifungal activity. Characterization of newly synthesized silver nanoparticles was made using UV-Vis spectroscopy. Trichophyton mentagrophytes mediated silver nanoparticles showed high antifungal activity against Microsporum fulvum and Candida albicans by using Paper disc and Agar well diffusion method. Our results suggest that T. mentagrophytes mediated silver nanoparticles could act as an effective antimicrobial agent and proves as an alternative for the development of new antimicrobial agents to combat resistance problem.
