Abstract


A present laboratory investigation was conducted in 2020–21 to synthesise and characterization of calcium oxide nanoparticles and an assessment of synthesized nanoparticles on wheat seed priming was carried out at Green Nanotechnology Laboratory, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka, India. The calcium nanoparticles were successfully synthesized utilizing the reducing and capping potential of tulsi leaf extracts from the autoclave method. The green synthesized nanoparticles were initially identified by a change in colour. Further, these nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Spectroscopy that revealed an absorbance peak at 230 nm for calcium oxide nanoparticles. The size of the synthesized particles is confirmed with a particle size analyzer i.e., 84.4 nm for calcium oxide nanoparticles. The spherical morphology of synthesized nanoparticles has been confirmed by scanning electron microscopy images. The purity and per cent presence of elemental calcium (74.49%) nanoparticles were confirmed using energy dispersive X-ray spectrum.
