Abstract

In vitro tissue culture technique was employed using different explants on MS media for high frequency mass propagation of Saussurea costus. In vitro micropropagation was maximum in 2.0 mg−1 BAP in MS media. 1.0 mgl−1 NAA induced best rooting in MS half strength medium whereas IBA was less favourable for rooting. The rooted plantlets were successfully transferred to field.
