Abstract

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs), Manganese dioxide nanoparticle (MnO2 NPs) and Pseudomonas putida was used alone and together for the management of bacterial leaf spot disease complex of turnip (Brassica rapa subsp. rapa) caused by Meloidogyne incognita and Pseudomonas syringae pv. maculicola (Psm). The application of either Zno NPs or MnO2 NPs in combination with P. putida resulted in a greater plant growth, chlorophyll and carotenoid content compared to individual treatments. Inoculation of M. incognita /Psm /M. incognita plus Psm or spray of ZnO NPs / MnO2 NPs or use of P. putida / ZnO NPs plus P. putida or MnO2 NPs plus P. putida increase proline contents. Application of ZnO NPs, MnO2 NPs and P. putida significantly reduce root galling, nematode population and disease severity. Greatest reduction in galling, nematode population and leaf spot disease index was observed when ZnO NPs was used with P. putida. A clear influence of Zno NPs spray with P. putida was also demonstrated in principal component analysis in various studied parameters.
