Abstract

People have been using herbal remedies since long before they started writing things down. Dendrocnide sinuata (Blume), a tree belonging to the Urticaceae family, has been traditionally employed as a supplementary medication to alleviate various disorders. The goal of this study was to assess the antioxidant potential and potential bioactive ingredients in the ethanolic extract of Dendrocnide sinuata (Blume) leaves. Phytochemical screening of ethanolic extract of Dendrocnide sinuata (Blume) leaf revealed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, phenols, tannins, steroids and terpenoids. The GC–MS analysis revealed the presence of twenty-one bioactive compounds. The biologically active compounds demonstrated significant potency in In-silico molecular docking studies. Additionally, ADME analysis revealed that these compounds possess promising pharmacokinetic properties and favorable drug-likeness characteristics, supporting their potential as viable candidates for drug development. The leaf extract of Dendrocnide sinuata has been scrutinized for its antioxidant content, indicating its potential as a natural source of antioxidants for pharmaceutical applications and animal nutrition due to its free radical scavenging capabilities.
