Abstract

In tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill), the studies on morphological and molecu-lar diversity was carried out during 2010. Germplasm collections of all the 24 genotypes including determinate and indeterminate culti-vars of tomato were screened. The resistant vari-eties take an average 4 days for germination whereas the hybrid varieties take 5 days for ger-mination. The highest fruit yield (3.36) shown by Palam pink (determinate plant type), its fruit size and shape is large round and have the medium plant height. Lowest fruit yield (0.95) in Sikkim local (indeterminate plant type) with small and oval fruit shape. Sixteen SSR primers were used to identify the genetic diversity. On an average, 52 scorable and reproducible alleles were ampli-fied using all primers. Cluster analysis clearly showed the genetic diversity among the geno-types under study.
