Abstract


The present study evaluates the effectiveness of macro-propagation techniques, namely seed germination and stem cutting, in Brucea mollis Wall. ex Kurz., an endangered medicinal shrub of Northeast India. The study aims to assess the potential of these techniques for large-scale multiplication and conservation of the species. Seeds treated with 10% Panchagavya solution exhibited higher germination (80%) compared to control (60%), indicating enhanced sprouting efficiency under organic treatment. Stem cuttings (15 cm length) treated with IBA (1000 ppm) showed 60% sprouting success, while control cuttings showed 40%. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of both seed and vegetative propagation methods. The findings highlight the practical utility of simple, cost-effective macro-propagation techniques for ex situ conservation, restoration, and sustainable utilization of this threatened species in Northeast India. The study provides a scientific basis for future conservation and population recovery programs.
